Astrid Scott, Board Member

Born in El Salvador during a turbulent civil war, Astrid faced separation from her parents who sought refuge in the United States. Reuniting with her family at the age of 10, adapting to a new country proved challenging. Through experiences in temporary housing and counseling centers, Astrid developed a passion for social work.

As a DACA recipient, educational limitations didn't deter her. Certified as a substance abuse counselor with a BA in Psychology, Astrid navigated various sectors, including corrections, detox, housing, and employment. Balancing work and family, she honed her skills, now applying her knowledge to positively impact lives in her current position in the California State Senate. Astrid's story reflects determination, resilience, and a commitment to making a difference, proving that even in challenging circumstances, dreams can be pursued with a compassionate heart.
