Lupe Lopez, Co-Founder, Board Treasurer

Lupe Lopez is a co-founder of Avanzando and the owner of Arteaga’s Food Center. She holds a degree in Network Engineering from the Masters’ Institute. Lupe is a trailblazer in organizing Community Health Fairs and in building partnerships with community organizations to promote awareness and healthier eating habits through the availability of high-quality food and education.

Lupe is involved in numerous non-profit organizations like Avanzando and the Latinos Unidos de Newark Association (LUNA). She volunteers with Hispanic Community Affair Council, Carnaval San Francisco, Dia de Los Muertos in Oakland, Vision Literacy, and the Tiburcio Vazquez Clinic and is a parent advocate at Graham School and Newark Memorial High School. Lupe was chosen as the 2018 Women of the Year by the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce, the 2020 Kansen Chu Community Hero Award, and has been recognized by both the CA Senate and Assembly for her work in the community.
